I actually worked with a guy once who was so far into one of these scams that he had given the scammers his cell phone number. Explained to him what it was. Showed him the evidence. He was still convinced he was going to get something for free. This guy was also heavily into a pyramid type scheme, and tried to recurit everyone around him to join too.
