Air France and shipping pets

Recently, one of our readers reported that the scammer they were in contact with had sent them a schedule of flights from Cameroon from Air France. Well, that's no big surprise, as Air France is about the only major airline that flies into Cameroon. Note, that just because a scammer sends you an airline schedule doesn't mean that your pet will be on that flight.

We recommended that said reader call Air France, and ask them. They did. Air France does not transport unaccompanied pets. In other words, you have to be on the same flight as the pet, otherwise, they will not ship them. Don't believe us, call Air France yourself.

Also note, most major airlines won't ship pets at all. Many other won't ship animals when the tempature is over a certain mark. Please, do your research. Also check out the post below describing various customs requirements for the import of different types of pets. It's not as easy as the scammers make it sound. There are federal, and state requirements, even for dogs and cats. Again, do the research.

  1. Well I read this post a little too late because they already suckered me out of $290 dollars but at least that's all I gave because now they want another $310 for shots but I've given enough and not any more or ever agin. Well I guess ill tell you a little about what happened to me so you can watchout.A lady by the name Rose Beyang emailed me when I put an ad on the internet for an airedale because I wanted one. She gave me this story about how she went to cameroon and her airedale couldn't come into the country because animals weren't alowed in. She said that I just needed to pay $90 to renew the ticket to get it back to the US. That didn't seem unreal because she she had already bought it a ticket and I just needed to renew it. So I thought cool I've wanted an airedale and now I got one. So I sent the money and the next day I got an email thanking me and then telling me that they needed $200 to pay for shipping INS. And I kind of thought well what would they need that money for, but I thought there was a reasonable explination for it so I sent the money. I was so excited to be getting my dog. Also they said the shipping INS. Was refundable and that's the only reason I sent it.Then the next day I got an email saying I needed to send $310 for shots and that's when I knew something was up so I started checking the internet and realized I was scamed. So don't do what I did. Oh and also what tipped me off was the email from the cameroon airport and Air France both had a thing at the bottom of the email that said click here to get your free email account and I went to the site and you could make any email in the world to fool people.

    Hope This helps avoid scams.

My girlfriend and I definately read this a little to late. Her and I were about to purchase two english bulldogs (1 male and 1 female). We went and wired the money to the name of FRU TERENCE. This was supposedly MARY ZITAS husband who would recieve the $180 and then send the dogs. Comes to find out after emailing them all night we recieved another email stating they wanted $1600 more. That the airport (AIR FRANCE) needed this amount to ensure the dogs would come safely. THIS IS SCAM!!!!!! DO NOT SEND MONEY!!!!!

My boyfriend and I also read this WAY too late. I purchased a puppy and we were told that the carriers service would be Air France. Now we are out $430.00 and no puppy. They used different receiver's names and when we sent them what we thought would be the total amount of money, they asked for an additional $1,600.00 for pet insurance. This really happened to us. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM!!! DO NOT DEAL WITH AIR FRANCE....UNLESS YOU PLAN ON JUST GIVING YOUR MONEY AWAY.

  4. Gentle Readers,

remember, Air France is not the problem. They are a real airline. One of the few that actually does fly into Cameroon. The thing is, if yoiu will contact them directly, they will tell you they do not ship unaccompanied pets. This means, you have to fly on the same plane as your pet.

They almost ripped me off too! Thank you all for having this posted. I was looking up yorkshire terrier puppies online, and I saw an ad on the ziply classifieds. The ad said puppies up for adoption so I thought "hey...free puppies!" man i was so happy. I replied to their ad thru email (dan.nilita@yahoo) and I got an answer right away saying how they have one male & one female up for adoption (Amia & Terry). They said all I had to do was send $180 to FRU TERENCE thru western union & once they receive the money, her husband was gonna ship the puppy. I was thinking to myself $180? that's really cheap to get a puppy shipped from Cameroon to Hawaii...that's when I got suspicious, so I googled FRU TERENCE, and thats where I found these very helpful reviews from all their victims. Do not send these people any money...In fact, If I were you, never buy anything online from someone that asks you to send money using western union.

  8. If in your dobut, it's probably a scam. Unfortunatly you did not supply enough information about the situation to advise you further.

Please contact Air France directly (if this is who they are claiming the shipper is). Do not use any contact information supplied to you by the potential scammer.

My husband and I were almost scammed just a few minutes ago. I had found an add in the classifieds. It said there were two Persian chinchill kittens that needed to be given away.
We emailed and she asked me a lot of questions. She then told me she woul take the kittens to the airport the next morning that they were in Norway. Today I got a phone call from a guy from Air France, who did not speak French. Go figure. I also had a lenghty email telling me what to do, including the addresses of my local Western Unions. I asked him if I could use a credit card and he said no. Air France not taking a credit card! Anyway my husband got on the western union web site and sent $240. to Tukov Bertrand in Cameroon. Meanwhile I was on my computer and phone calling Air France to see what the fee was from Oslo to LAX. NOT 240.00. Anyway I found this site, printed it and gave it to my husband. We called Western Union and cancelled. The woman who contacts you through emailgoes by Rholande Smith. The guy who says he works for Air France, who doesn't speak French is named Eddie. The pictures of the kittens she sends are just adorable. They claim to be Baptist Missionaries. Please be careful! Don't get scammed. If it sounds to good to be true, it usually is. I have learned my lesson!

I'm glad that we googled FRU TERENCE just in time! We we're searching for Siberian Huskies and emailed te4so@live.com... She had replied back using the name Maria Bella, saying she has two huskies 1 male 1 female also named Terry & Amia and that she was unable to take care of them because she is doing some assignment in Cameroon. Once she said $180USD just for shipping did not sound right but yet we still emailed her back and asked pictures of the puppy. Once she emailed back with the pics thats when we got put off and got suspicous. The pic of the puppy was a male and we we're asking to see a pic of the female puppy and ive also seen the exact pic of the puppy from an actual breeders site. She gave me instructions to send the money through to her husband FRU TERENCE by Western Union and once they recieve the money they will use it to pay for the shipping fee. Yes sounds very dodgy to me so we Googled his name and found this site.. so thank you to all that has put a post up about whats happened to them. I know now how to tell who are scammers!!.

I thought it was to good to be true (all the docs, pure bred, shots included, etc. for free?!?! where it would in South Africa usually cost me R3500 a kitten), so I e-mailed to find out. The woman, Rholande Smith, said this: Hi there,
We thank you first of all for your interest in our kittens. We've got these excellent personality toy babies ready for any loving home out there. These Chinchilla Silver Persian Kittens will have a plush, thick, long silky coat.
